Goodness Gracious Me (1996)

Goodness Gracious Me, a groundbreaking sketch comedy, first aired on BBC Radio 4 from 1996 to 1998 before transitioning to BBC Two from 1998 to 2001. Featuring a talented ensemble of British Indian actors—Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kulvinder Ghir, Meera Syal, and Nina Wadia—the show humorously navigated the tensions between traditional Indian customs and contemporary British society. It cleverly flipped perspectives, showcasing British characters through an Indian lens and satirizing stereotypes. Notably, one sketch humorously depicted the aftermath of a few lassis, as the characters comically misorder at a restaurant. The catchy title theme is a bhangra twist on a classic song.
